Ochre Haunebu [idea13]

By  Mik Godley 2011
iPad drawing using vector apps Adobe Ideas and Paintbook Developed from a series of iPod paintings of the internet conspiracy theory “photographic evidence” (and a few obvious fakes) for the project “Considering Silesia” by Anglo-German painter Mik Godley. A simple internet exploration of his German roots unearthed a mass of “evidence” and theories about the Silesian mountain overlooking his mother’s birthplace. In particular he was fascinated by Albert Speer’s monumental secret project codenamed “Der Riese” (the Giant) tunnelled miles of shafts, cavernous weapons factories, and even an underground town, that eventually became a graveyard for 28,000 slave labourers. And what were the Nazis supposed to be building there? A development of what the Allied pilots called “Foo Fighters”: new and radical types of aircraft meant to save Hitler’s war – the Haunebu flying saucers.iPad drawing using vector apps Adobe Ideas and Paintbook Developed from a series of iPod paintings of the internet conspiracy theory “photographic evidence” (and a few obvious fakes) for the project “Considering Silesia” by Anglo-German painter Mik Godley.
