Offshore

By  Janet Sang 2016
Screen print (seven colours) From the series Capital whose title refers both to the capital city London and to the economic system of capitalism. Both are referenced through the iconic skyscrapers of London's financial centre. These are depicted cryptically, using representations of the objects from which they derive their nicknames (for example, 30 St Mary Axe is known as ‘The Gherkin’). In Offshore, capitalism has been cobbled together to form a makeshift vessel, desperately ploughing the oceans in search of new profit. Printed by the artist at Volcanic Editions, Brighton
