Petits rats

For the installation petits rats the artist cut and pinned onto the walls of her studio, girls' tights, children and babies socks. From a distance the installation appears as a two-dimensional work made of colourful and decorative patterns. But things are not what they seem. There are stretched and fixed creatures on the wall. The illusion evokes the deceptive and gendering nature of clothing and the problematic cultural fixity of identity. Petits rats, small rats, in French are young opera dancers.
