Plant no plant

By Jay Rechsteiner 2023
On a field trip through Malaysia and Thailand during the winter months of 2023 I collected various images and stories as a starting point for new work. Once back in Margate, UK, I began making studies of plant life. What I thought would be studies have become paintings. This series is mainly about painting. I am trying to stay away from political statements, obvious narratives and such. I was going to fill it with plant, using the painting/drawing of the hotel room depicted in it merely as a background. When I stepped back and had a look at it, I decided not to put any plants into the room. Plant no plant size: 200cm x 200cm Material: acrylic paint, ink and PVA on sugar paper Date: June 2023
