'Please Hold the LIne (while we try to connect you)'

By  Liz Sergeant 2015
The shimmering telephone wires create a visible, open network within this historic public telephone kiosk in Northaw, Herts. Tense, taut and eager to receive our words as electrical pulses, the cables criss-cross, connect and communicate - like the charged synapses of the phone box's nervous system - pre-dating fibre-optic cable and wireless communication. Following its decommission, this K6 telephone box now serves as a tiny new art gallery in Northaw and opened in June 2014. This installation will be exhibited for a month.
