Pop-up

This art work was made for the Alfred East Garden as part of Kettfest Festival and is based broadly on the idea of a picnic. This work shows the cutlery in little rows like families. They have the appearance of having just popped up, like daisies, suggesting the spontaneous nature of a picnic. The fan shapes also call to mind the graphics on a map, little lines representing grass and grassy places. The mood of the work is animated and bright, almost waving, saying hello.
