Portable Pavement Sands

By  Marilyn Rathbone 2002 - 2003
I walked with my children along the same routes to and from school for eight years. Manhole covers, cracks in the pavement, petals, leaves and other materials I came across on these and other walks inspired me to create a body of work called the Pavement Works Collection. Started in 1998, to date the collection consists of over twenty works in eight categories. 'Portable Pavement Sands' is part of the 'Portable Pavement Works' category - a collection of small scale pieces that were designed to pack away into a small carry case. leaves, glass jars, handmade box, clear elastic thread
