Preconceptions (Latex sampling)

Using the everyday object of a drinking mug this piece forms part of my sampling process. Representing everyday crockery being an analogy of the self, it is designed to prompt questions as to our assumptions and preconceptions being not as we imagined. This piece developed as part of my curiosity for materials. Being malleable, the latex second handle represents the object to be not what we perhaps anticipated and because the latex is unsuitable as a handle it is not as it seems. This encourages us to analyse why we think this way and prompts analysis as to why we think this way.
