Proposition for Trove: Light Installation/Painting According to Tonal Values, 42 x 29.5cm, ink and graphite on paper, 2011

By Mary Yacoob 2016
One of a series of site-specific drawings made for Trove gallery in Birmingham. Drawing on top of photographs of the space sent to her by the Gallery Director, the drawings propose large scale installations for the site. The drawn proposals are artworks in their own right and respond to the physicality of the image to generate ideas for 3-d installations. For example, in one drawing colour lines connect different tonal values in the photocopied image to create an idea for a laser-light installation.
