Ps in a Pod/Durham Ps are sculptures created by Louise Plant, commissioned by Durham County Council. Supported by Arts Council England, the County Durham Community Foundation, cast in iron at Hargreaves Foundry.
Durham Ps respond to their environment. Their location can alter how we feel and what we understand about their personality. During 2017 – 2018, the cast iron Ps will moved from Nose’s Point Seaham to Durham City Wharton Park, to Bishop Auckland, then Hamsterley Forest. They are currently sited at Wharton Park, Durham
Ps possess ambiguous orientation without the necessity for base or plinth. Each individual P stands alone or interacts with another forming a single or multiple sculptural mass. Unique in form, not fixed, the configuration of the individual or the group changes with relation to context and location. Ps are interactive, accessible and can morph in size and shape.
