Pull_Forward

By  Mia Roberts 2025

The film uses AI to mix corporate, personal, and digitally mediated labour archives. From online sex work to precarious retail sector roles, the film explores hyperreality where memory, identity and agency are shaped and reimagined. For trans people navigating a polarised landscape, expectations and binaries distort how identity is realised. Emergent technologies offer a space to explore speculative, self directed reclamations, turning structures made to curate behaviour into artistic material.

The work takes real corporate training videos, family home videos and absurdist gestures, using them as material for artistic practice. This comes from personal experience navigating job precarity, the Retail sector as a practicing artist whilst being on low income.
