“Red Oak Sediment Drawing “

By  Tim Pugh 2025

The artwork is a photograph of a temporary drawing created at an Environmental Art Festival I attended in Llano,Texas in March 2025.I sketched out the outlines of Red Oak leaves onto a granite surface and painted in between the spaces,a mixture of sediment and water .The sediment was gathered from the ground and contains a large amount of red iron ore ,hence the rich ochre colour. The drawing/painting intervention was created underneath a road bridge spanning the River Llano on a large granite block  which was the remains of an earlier bridge that was washed away in a flood nearly a hundred years ago.
