“Future Floods”.

By  Tim Pugh 2024

Future Floods is a temporary mixedmedia artwork created in the River Ehen in West Cumbria  on a cold December day in 2024.The artwork is intended to highlight the risk of future river flooding as a direct consequence of the climate crisis .Increased sea temperatures directly impacts on the  weather creating more moisture in the air which in turn increases rainfall deposits and the likelihood of increased flooding. The River Ehen has increasing incidents of flooding in recent years which has greatly affected ecosystems and infrastructure along its course.I found the giant clock in a skip near the river which gave me the idea for the installation and installing the clock in the fast flowing waters was a tricky exercise.
