Repetition over Time: British Ceramic Biennial 2013 Research residency within Spode. Collaborative project with the Crafts Council Hothouse3 Ceramicists Focusing on a moment of stillness and quiet in this former industrial shell. No longer an environment that is ruled by large-scale production but a space that resonates the memory of processes, repetition and lives that are such a core part of the Spode legacy. This unfired installation is a juxtaposition of the strength and fragility of both ceramics as a material and of Spode’s history, heritage and innovation. I'm building this work onsite and during the six-week festival it will slowly transform over time. The visible slow breakdown of the clay will change the space and will frame the material qualities in its raw form.
