River balls

By  Johana Hartwig 2016 - 2017
Lost footballs pulled out of Cardiff's three rivers. The work was made as part of 'Three Rivers Wide'; this part of the project considered the rivers as vehicle and how what they carried reflected the city, its people and architecture. Each ball carries the collective or individual disappointment of someone who has kicked the ball into the river. Some of the balls had team names on them and there was an attempt to reunite these balls with their owners via Twitter. The balls were exhibited in Arcade Cardiff, which is situated in a shopping centre, the work used the language of shopping centres and made them float, putting them 'on display'.
