Rubbish Music 1 and 2

Sound sculptures, found materials and electronics. Viewers lift objects from a domestic recycling box to play recordings of sounds made with those objects. Viewers are invited to record their own Rubbish Music compositions on hand held cassette recorders. In this piece, viewer’s participation is essential to the recycling of the sounds of rubbish. By taking home their own recordings in a problematically obsolete format, further consideration of rubbish, waste and recycling is encouraged beyond the exhibition space.
