Sadness + Surprise = Disappointment

This sculpture is the third in my Plutchik's Theory of Emotions series. Plutchik was a psychologist who classified emotions into 8 primary states. His model further categorised emotions much like secondary colours in the colour wheel. The two primary emotions, sadness and surprise combine to form disappointment. This sculpture features visual symbols for each on opposing sides of a 3D pyramid shape. When viewing the piece, you can see these symbols intermingle, overlap and influence each other - describing the ebb and flow of these powerful emotions.
