Painted fused glass.
This piece is based on the story of Santes Dwynwen who lived in Anglesey in the 5th Century. Thwarted in love Dwynwen became a nun. There is a well inhabited by a fish outside the church where she lived on Anglesea which was consulted by lovers – a lady was said to sprinkle breadcrumbs and then laid her handkerchief on the surface of the water, if the water moved there was hope in her relationship. Dwynwen reportedly said “Does dim byd yn ennill calonnau fel sirioldeb” – “Nothing wins hearts like cheerfulness”.
