Sculptural Works

By  Sarah Spanton 2008

Keith Whittle

A series of performative/interactive sculptural works produced for Spanton's final degree show (at Sheffield City Polytechnic). An essential element of the presentation of the objects was the artist's role in personally handing the sculpture to an audience member, to not only view but critically to touch, handle and manipulate. Each work addressed themes of the body and movement. Each 'handling' created an integrated loop between the object and the person holding it, where the object functions and enacts its meaning through this performative act.
