Sentinel

A series of interventions in the landscape created to convey a provisional sense of standing guard. The form refers to architectural structures and the draped figures holding up Greek temples (Caryatids). The demands of each location shaped the outcome which was deliberately insubstational. The materiality of the sculpture helped determine the outcome, the stiffened fabrics and folds responded to the shifting weather patterns - stiffer in dry weather, sagging in damper air.
