Shimmer Effect II

By  Claire Barber 2024

‘Shimmer Effect II’ takes the material components of the floor-based installation ‘Shimmer Effect’ but utilises the vertical plane of the gallery wall. The upright ‘portrait’ format revitalises the memories associated with the lining of dome tent and a hand knitted jumper, and the personal significance of a highly controlled surface patina of pins layered into their surfaces. The new context at the Knitting and Stitching Show in Harrogate offers an opportunity to review and reflect on the subtle spatial movements and dynamic lines within the installation and the way that the differing light reflective properties between the objects in the installation are perceived.
