Sussex Basket Pig and Diary of a Hedgerow 2

By  Danny Manning 2018
The Sussex Basket Pig is a celebratory piece based on the bygone Sussex Potters drinking cup- the Sussex Pig. This drinking vessel was used at weddings in the 19th Century - my version is made from various types of willow and foraged material. It also ties in with my current themes of folklore, ritual and celebration. Quoting the old Sussex verse: And you can pook and you can shove But a Sussex Pig he won't be druv Diary of a Sussex Hedgerow 2 is the second object made from material gathered over a year from a Hedgerow near Glydne East Sussex. A frame baskets made from five different willow, hawthorn , plantain, iris leaves and grasses.
