Monochromatic greys and stencilled dots, a nod to the ben day printing process, renders the the image difficult to read and act as a unifying aesthetic. The details of the 35 females all appeared in the national press over a 6 month period during 2007, and all had fame or notoriety thrust on them in different ways through a twist of fate. The enhanced detailed expression of the mouth rescues the form from the pattern, to achieve an individual dimension, to give a voice to their ''''story''''. An ''''addendum'''' accompanies this painting, in the form of graphite drawings and watercolours, transcribed from newspaper cuttings

Oils on Fabric on Canvas. A monochromatic re-working of photographic image. The focusing and dissolving pattern is intended to work as a visual metaphor for distant and half remembered images. The Blue of the fabric evokes the seaside atmosphere of a windy day in Whitby, Yorkshire.
