Tempura is a video work based around the futile notion of stopping time. The imagery comprises of clocks and watches being dipped in Tempura batter and subsequently being deep-fried. This has a catastrophic affect on the internal workings of the timepieces, rendering them inactive and obscured. Historical references are made to the buffoonery of Dadaism and to the aggression of Futurism. Simultaneously amusing and disturbing, this act serves as a metaphor for the relentless rigour of automation over nature, of measured time over our perception of existence.
