The Assassination of Donald Trump

The Assassination of Donald Trump

210cm x 260cm acrylic on canvas, Vienna, Austria, July/August 2016

This is the first painting in this series. Its complexity in terms of composition and colour balance was a huge challenge. I painted it in Vienna as part of The Red Van Travelling Art Research project. The painting tells the story of my prank assassination on Donald Trump.

Bad Painting - phase 2

Bad Painting Phase 2 is series of (seemingly) badly executed paintings. As crude & dilettantish as the work sometimes seems, it is often very complex in terms of composition and use of colour. The deliberate 'wrong' use of colours, distorted geometry and in general amateurishly painted pictures explore all these components as well as what a successful picture is and isn't. Despite the title of the series, I attempt to create successful, well balanced works.

In terms of content and themes, the work in Bad Painting, phase 2 deals with possible present day and future events & situations, mirroring my own fears and joys. I am interested in exploring Appenzell peasant art (Appenzeller Bauernmalerei), the works of David Hockney, Lubaina Himid, Henri Rousseau, James Ensor & Anna Mary Robertson (Grandma Moses) to name a few. As I my general practice focuses on process more than anything else, I have decided to include both, the successful and unsuccessful paintings.
