The Life of Margins

By Nick Malone 2005 - 2022

Acrylic and Mixed Media on Canvas - This work is one of a series that emerged from the human figure when working in Cornwall. The shape of the model with outstretched arms combined with nearby prehistoric stone structures into an elemental cruciform shape to underpin the composition of the picture plane, often invoking a horizon line. This approach was developed further in the exhibition 'Balkan Earth', commissioned by the British Council to celebrate their 50 years in Greece, and continued to underpin a lot of my work thereafter.
