The Ouseburn Community Project

The Ouseburn Community Project uses house hold bricks, re-cycled dress patterns and folded books to reference the Ouseburn valleys unique identity. Working with local residents in the inspiring environment of the Ouseburn Farm, the Ouseburn Community Project has unearthed stories of expeditions into the Ouseburn culvert, vanishing street names and the rules & regulations imposed on workers in the industrial valley. Using the medium of brick clay, participants have transformed these ideas into colourful brick designs as part of their contribution to the International Print Biennale. Funded by Newcastle City Learning, the project brings together a wide and diverse group of participants interested in the Ouseburn Valley. The project was kindly supported by Ibstock Brickworks in Birtley, Gateshead.
