The Postcode Is Correct
The Postcode Is Correct is a lecture performance about administrative visibility. It begins from my own dispute with an energy company. When I tried to take the company to the small claims court, I could not find its address: not through Royal Mail, not on the court form. A corporation that could bill me could not itself be located. Meanwhile, after I moved, my own address could not be found on Google Maps. The performance follows these two failures in opposite directions: a company large enough to opt out of being findable, and a resident small enough to fall off the map. From there it opens into the wider politics of addressing, asking how postcodes, databases and mapping platforms decide who can be located, billed, counted and answered.
