The Rite of Spring

By  Adam Grose 2021
These are a series of lithograph prints produced through the technique I call Aluminum Lithography. The process involves creating the image through drawing with a chinagraph pencil and then 'etching' the surface using cola. The drawing is then wiped away with veg oil and then the process of wetting and inking the surface produces the image, using the method of water/ oil resist. Through continually inking the surface I allow it to degrade over time, producing a more aquatint print, producing images that are a mixture of intent and chance. These are inspired from plein air drawing at Longrun Lake in Taunton and the music of The Rite of Spring. Each explore elements of the end to the hibernation and the awakening to the spring and new life.
