This work is a show of resilience - meeting a history of hostility, oppression and personal trauma, (memories that have resurfaced through today’s political rhetoric), with courage and a commitment to be remain joyfully true to the mix of cultures that shape identities. An expression of the ongoing struggles over how they are seen and how they see themselves, the work advocates for self-determination. Above all, I hope it conveys strength and empowers a sense of rightful belonging.
