thought patterns

By  Pen Dalton 2023
"Thought Patterns "2023 Acrylic paint, faux gold leaf, screenprinted Tengujo paper, on linen canvas 60 x 70 cms Each formal element on the canvas requires its own technical process - the gold leaf; the stippled background, the printed half-tone, and each its own separately mixed medium: the rough, the smooth, the hard edge opaque or transparent and the dribble - not an economic way to make a painting. Its becoming increasingly obvious to me that these paintings reflect my intense efforts to cope with conflicting and demanding thoughts and mental states. To create some sort of control, order, predictable pattern out of chaos in an aesthetically satisfying unity.
