Totemic Objects

Totemic Objects Axis Arts Centre, Crewe November 2010 Totemic Objects uses the film Spitfire Beach (2010) as a springboard to generate further works. The images and objects exhibited stem from the descriptions within the films narrative, and the films presence within the exhibition sets up a potential dialogue between the screen and space. Works included: Spitfire Beach (2010) 4 min 12 secs HD film. Supported by Airfix. Narrated by Gerard Fletcher and musical score by Jeff Harbourne. The Model II (2010) Sculpture made from Airfix aeroplane parts. Still Airfix (2010) Film of still images 7 min 13 secs. A series of 200 photographs of the Airfix kits before they were used. Past Crashes (2010) A series of original black and white photographs of aeroplane crashes. Purchased from eBay over a period of six months. It was A Strange Affair (2010) Twenty wet archival storage boxes after the belongings were emptied. The Eurofighter (2010) Miniature model of the fictional Eurofighter battleship.
