Transfer Deed

By  Janet Sang 2018

Dimensions
55x79

The print references the demolition of the Heygate Estate in London and contrasts this event with a representation of the luxurious 1 Hyde Park apartments. The image of the bulldozer is met by one of a sculptural form made of units of removal boxes, pointing to the plight of evicted residents. However its stance could be read as defiant, and suggest the possibility of resistance. There is a nod here too to the playful but powerful sculptures of Paolozzi of the 1960s. The title is taken from the lexicon of property dealing, but also suggests a transfer of wealth from the public to the private. Printed by the artist at Volcanic Editions, Brighton on Fabriano Artistic 640gsm, edition of 9
