Tree Clock

By  Tim Pugh 2009

Tim Pugh

'Tree Clock' is one of a series of installations focusing on the theme of time made in response to my participation in a group exhibition that will tour in North Wales and Europe in 2010. The clock was sketched onto the bark surface of a silver birch tree using charcoal and marker pen, together with written text, about the passing of time. The omission of the clock hands suggests a 'timeless' quality whilst the bark itself is comprised of eroding layers resembling disintegrating layers of manuscripts, acting as a metaphor for the passing of time.
