Trespassing For Art V

While searching for some gigantic red fir trees seen from the road, I found I had to cross private land owned by a sawmill to get to them. As no one was around I began to quickly record the woodland I was in as the autumn colours were vivid that day and glowed in the blue English light. From this I have produced a series of drawings made plein air and finished later in the studio. Trespassing For Art is the first of a series of oil paintings based on the experience. With a textural ground, fast brushstrokes and delicate detail the painting’s surface is varied and boldly coloured in pastel shades of turquoise, pink, green and purple. A soft pinkness warms the sky.
