Up the Duff

By  Rosie Leventon 2012 - 2013

R. Leventon

Part of a new series made from insulation and raw pigment. Some of the pieces will be able to be entered, while others will be closed and the interior viewable through apertures. Onto the surfaces I am painting many layers of a type of coating I have made up myself. I aim to create a kind of dialogue between the everyday industrial mass produced material and the hand crafted objects.. Looking through the lens of our everyday Junk Culture of mass produced materials concrete blocks and hamburgers, to see evidence of other cultures only dimly perceived and often misunderstood. Here in the area of London where I live there is one of the highest numbers of Ethnic minorities in the Country. Locally we can see the largest Hindu temple outside India, as well as Mosques and Buddhist Temples.
