Vampyroteuthis Gastropods
This body of work follows the Vampyroteuthis Infernalis’ narrative introduced in The Ruins of Fiction. It envisions a chimera born from the fusion of the Vampyroteuthis Infernalis and gastropods, gestating within a gelatinous vessel. This entity combines the squid’s tendrils —now petrified like stone— cradling the chimera eggs within its belly, from where they slowly slip out into the world.
The squid’s inability to adapt to the surface drives its transformation into interspecies hermaphroditic beings, poised on the cusp of birth. As they crawl, they leave behind a glistening trail, their secrets waiting to be uncovered.
Immersed in the Vampyroteuthis’ inner fluidity, these unborn creatures embody the shared essence of mutable sexuality and viscous existence. This slimy narrative rejects authority and order, inviting discovery, creation, deconstruction, and rediscovery in an endless, evolving cycle.
