Walking the Dogs

By  Ann Denison 2007

Dimensions

The painting originated with the intent of criticising the laziness of our car-centred culture - directly inspired by reading a report of people taking their dogs for walks by holding the leash from the car! Nevertheless, a darker tone emerged as the work progressed - reflecting the artist's own fears of cars - a journey the viewer is invited to follow as s/he moves from the elongated dog in the top right to the cars and the rows of menacing teeth.
