Colin Nicholas

Norwich
I began my career in the mid-70's and produced works in blockboard and plastic tube until the mid-90's when I began to create paintings in acrylic on board and later figurative works on linen.

Chromatic memos and expression:

For many years my professional practice as a sculptor and painter was summarised by a large collection of 35mm glass-mounted slides. The advantage of reversal film was that it offered a demanding common standard for exposure and projection of reproduced art works. Now, of course, my visual records and casual  photographic notes are all digital files filtered by Photoshop tools. So to re-light my experience of an obsolecsent colour saturated film technology I have begun re-imagining selected digital snaps and scans in acrylic on linen paintings that reference aspects of photography but are neither facimilies nor diigital mediations.
