Angela Rumble
Angela Rumble studied Fine Art at KIAD Canterbury and gained her MA in 1999. She originally trained as a dentist and still works part time in general practice. She continues to combine the two fields and this experience is reflected in the subject matter of her early artwork. Much of this work investigates the relationship between doctor and patient.
Recent work has been restricted to interpretation of woodland landscapes. The delicate and intricate filigree of branches in these paintings force the viewer to walk a path which is like an endless labyrinth,.The slightly frightening quality of the paintings gives them an intensity but avoids the gothic. Using an assertively hand-made technique in a technologically inflected manner adds to the ambiguity and their slightly unsettling feel.
