Puy Soden

Huddersfield
I have been investigating painting for many years and I have barely scratched the surface.

I investigate the multiple ways of making and using the main components of painting: the support; the surface; the paint; the ground; the image. Rather than any planned outcome, I focus on the activity of painting and my immersion in the experiments that test materials and methods. This means my work is process-led. My current paintings, a deliberate focus on a 2D approach, are records of specific investigations into how paintings can be created. It's all about my experience of an intricate ordering of the application of paint, and how the viewer might experience this in turn.
