Robert McCubbin
Using collage, drawing, sculpture and photography, my work explores eclectic responses to the creative process using everyday materials and imagery. All set within the contemporary arena of mass consumerism and the impact of the waste materials this engenders. Ultimately, my work is an interaction and ‘communication’ with these materials, via a repurposing of them to form new abstract constructs, reflecting on their enduring and all-encompassing presence.
Career path: I attended George Street School of Art (Dumfries) 1994-96 and subsequently continued at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen, The Robert Gordon University. In 2000 I graduated with a BA (Hons) Fine Art and since then I have exhibited in both solo and group shows across the UK and beyond.
