Sonny Williams
With each painting there is a common strategy by which I not only play with the paint to have visual breakthroughs, but also attempt to depict a psychological state or an aspect of human nature, symbolically, by means of physical manifestation. They could be viewed as veridical glimpses that rest at least one layer behind an illusion.
Williams (b.1972, Lisburn, N.Ireland) grew up in the North East of England and attended the University of Sunderland, graduating in 2001 with a first class BA in Fine Art, specialising in oil painting. His work has been exhibited around the UK, including at Pilgrim Gallery in London and his paintings are held in a number of private collections.
