Viv Allen

My work is driven by experimentation and research. Initially trained in 3D design, I have worked in different media including ceramics, photography and moving image to make sculpture and immersive installations.
Currently I am using processed and locally-found clays to make ideas-based work. My composite installations of ceramic forms are intended to provoke reflections on our relationships with rhythms, cycles and forces.
I have exhibited in local and national exhibitions throughout my artist career returning to focus on ceramics more recently:
Fretwork 1: Fabricate, a technicians showcase, East Gallery, Norwich
Fretwork 2: Shortlisted for the Charlotte Fraser Ceramic and Glass Prize, Holt Festival, Norfolk
Fretwork 3: Shortlisted for the 7th John Ruskin Prize, Trinity Buoy Wharf, London
Residencies 2009 - International Guest Residency, Kokarkultur, Kokar, Finland
