100 Language Gloves (detail)

By  Henny Burnett 1997

Martin Urmson

"100 Language gloves" is an installation piece made up of a hundred individually cast gloves. Each glove is a relief cast in plaster and muslin. Onto the muslin is printed fragments of manuscripts, a personal reference to the artist's father and his life long study of manuscripts at The British Library. The gloves resemble archaeological fragments that have a history of their own.
