Plastic bags and packaging, stitched over with black bleeding hearts hanging from the bottom. Image includes a self portrait with my tongue sticking out (Kali rage style). Text on the hanging strips reads: Trans Rights, Women’s Rights and Abortion Rights. The bleeding hearts symbolise the death of these rights.
This piece explores my emotional response to Trumps election but also online hate that I received back.
This is a complex issue and one that asked questions of me such as how do I grieve for the rights of women, LGBT communities and marginalised groups, stand my ground and at the same time show solidarity for others experiencing oppression on the other side?
