Collaborative studio project with Benjamin Barra, developing formalist ideas and methodologies relating to non-linguistic, object-oriented communication. Through exercises over several weeks, such as addittakeitmoveithalt, in which exchanges are limited to a prescribed set of actions related to the placement of found material, we have been exploring the expanded notions of analogy, narrative and metaphor, whilst being receptive to alternative modes of transmitting meaning (through ‘object-proxies’) that emerge. At various points language has been re-introduced in a controlled way to explore ideas of ‘publication’ (‘to make public’) and ‘exhibition’ (‘to hold out for display’).
