waiting

waiting is a collaborative exhibition by Benjamin Barra and Oliver Getley. Shown at LAX, Leeds (2025).

waiting is the outcome of an ongoing joint studio-based research project. For two years, Barra and Getley have been exploring ways in which to communicate with each other through playful exercises of object arrangement, juxtaposition and displacement. In this way, they have been testing what meaning ordinary objects can carry in their unlimited combinations and configurations, with the help of expanded conceptions of literary devices such as metaphor, analogy and narrative. 

Bringing together an arrangement of found objects, architectural interventions and materials referencing their activity up to this point, waiting at LAX reflects on the many possible ‘places’ this space could be.
