Among the Roots - Byway 745 Observatory

This large scale graphite and wash drawing combines observational studies of the once coppiced beech hedge that lines Byway 745 with drawings of the litter collected beneath it. The coppicing, littering and erosion of the soil from under the roots of these trees are all evidence of historical and ongoing human interventions in the landscape.
