Drake Circus Shopping Centre - Plymouth Commissioned by P&O through International Art Consultants Ten fish from large to small are suspended in this atrium shaped like an amphitheatre. The name of the piece is a play on the word circus due to the space being a semi circle and it reminded me of a Roman theatre space where performances were often aquatic extravaganzas. Plymouth came to be a major trading town because of the plentiful supply of fish. These fish in their bright fairground colours belong to that imaginary circus. Each is held by a single line and moves round slowly interacting with its neighbouring fish.
